1.What type of care is provided in Personal Care Living?
Our facility employs nurses and resident assistants to administer medications and assist with the activities of daily living to ensure our residents are healthy and safe.

2. Am I allowed to bring my own furniture and personal items?
Yes. We encourage our residents to bring what they can from home so that they “feel more at home”. We can provide furniture to residents who do not have furnishings.

3. Do you have a medical director?
Dr. Robert Shusman is the medical director of the facility. He is a very experienced and caring physician with a special interest in geriatrics.

4. Is there a community fee?
Community fee is equivalent to one month’s rent.

5. What are the up-front fees?
Springfield Senior Commons requires the one-time community fee to be paid upon admission.

6. Are laundry and housekeeping included in the rent?
Yes, our experienced housekeeping and laundry staff will clean the apartment and wash the towels and linens weekly. Residents may wash their own personal clothing with washers and dryers provided by the facility at no extra charge, or
the staff will wash personal items for a nominal fee of $10 per week.

7. Are meals included in the monthly rent?
Yes, three well-balanced and tasteful meals are provided daily. In addition, the cafe is open 24 hours a day for light snacks and refreshments.

8. Is transportation provided for the residents?
Yes. Transportation to doctor’s appointments, banks, etc. is available for the residents to utilize.

9. What are the additional fees?
Additional fees are charged for hairdressing services, the telephone and medical devices not covered by insurance.

10. What happens if a higher level of care is needed such as a nursing home?
Our facility has skilled nursing and rehab on-site. If such care is needed, we can easily transfer the resident to the skilled nursing and rehab areas conveniently located next door.
