Dementia Care
Harlee Manor Dementia Care provides creative approaches to dementia management in a dignified setting.
Our program offers a safe, comfortable, home-like environment equipped to manage each individual’s unique physical, cognitive, emotional and social needs. Harlee Manor Dementia Living features a Wander GuardTM security system supervised by our 24-hour trained staff members. Outside activities take place on a beautifully landscaped private deck under supervision of our expert staff.
Dedicated caregivers provide consistency
Each of our caregivers is specifically educated and trained in techniques to provide quality dementia care. Educational topics include behavioral management, family support, sensitivity workshops, dietary planning and medication management.
A program of enriching activites
We offer structured activity programs designed to capture the attention of the dementia patient. Dr. Levin, our music therapist, engages residents in programs designed to enhance memory, increase cognitive ability and stimulate the senses. A sampling of typical activities includes:
• Music therapy
• Sensory stimulation
• Memory and trivia games
• Exercise
• Programs focused on familiar life experiences
Programs run seven days a week, beginning in the morning and ending prior to bedtime to minimize the anxiety often associated with “sun-downing” syndrome. All of our programs are designed to encourage independence and participation while maximizing function and emotional support.
An interdisciplinary team evaluates each individual upon admission to determine his or her dementia care needs. The team includes a physician, geriatric nurse, activities specialist, geriatric psychiatrist, psychologist and a social worker.
